Requirements:
- Active LPN/LVN license in state of practice.
- Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience (correctional, LTC, clinic, or med-surg preferred).
- BLS certification required.
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work safely in a secure environment and manage patients with complex medical and behavioral needs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform basic nursing assessments and monitor patients’ health status.
- Administer medications, treatments, immunizations, and perform wound care per protocol.
- Assist with intake screenings, triage, and routine health evaluations.
- Respond to urgent/emergent medical situations within the correctional setting.
- Document all care accurately in the health record and report changes to the RN or provider.
- Support chronic disease management, including diabetes, hypertension, and mental health needs.
- Follow infection control, facility rules, and safety/security procedures at all times.
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, mental health providers, and correctional officers.
- Educate patients on medications, treatments, and self-care as appropriate.
- Assist with daily clinical tasks such as vital signs, specimen collection, EKGs, and scheduling care.
