- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1820 - $1950 per week
Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Parkersburg, WV 26101 (West Virginia nursing jobs)
- Unit: 4N Ortho-Neuro (Medical Surgical Nursing)
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Contract Length: 13-week travel nurse assignment
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), weekends as scheduled
- Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs (no hoodies or sweat-jackets)
- Charting System: EPIC electronic health records
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or compact state
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience, including orthopedic nursing and PCA pump management
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system
- Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Valid, unexpired driver’s license required upon submission
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from elective orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures, neuro-surgeries (back, neck), and general Med/Surg cases
- Manage patient assignments with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
- Administer IV fluids and manage PCA pumps (no titratable drips required)
- Collaborate with Patient Care Techs (PCTs) for vitals, ADLs, and foley catheter removal
- Work closely with a 24/7 charge nurse and multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Float to other Medical Surgical units as needed; float assignments within skillset if floated to Telemetry
- Participate in comprehensive orientation: 1 day EPIC training, 1 day on the floor with a preceptor, then independent practice
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EHR
