Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Job Title: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Harvey, IL 60426 – Greater Chicago Area
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
- Unit: Medical Surgical (Med/Surg)
- Start Date: December 22, 2025
- End Date: March 23, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (06:45 - 19:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1400 - $1500
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required to float to other units as needed
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Ability to pass EKG strip test during orientation
- Experience with Epic EMR system preferred
- Two professional references (one from a direct supervisor or nurse manager)
- Maximum 7 days of requested time off during assignment
- Locals accepted (within 75-mile radius of Harvey, IL)
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered care to medical-surgical patients in an acute care setting
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress using Epic EMR
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; participate in rapid response and code teams
- Deliver oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
- Care for peripheral lines and manage nasal cannula
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Float to other hospital units as needed to support patient care
- Work every other weekend as scheduled
