Position Summary
A high-volume Labor & Delivery unit is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift travel assignment. Ideal candidates are comfortable in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with strong fetal monitoring skills and the ability to support complex deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to laboring patients in an L&D setting
- Manage labor progression, fetal monitoring, induction therapies, and emergent interventions
- Act as circulating nurse for cesarean deliveries
- Support high-risk obstetric patients
- Float as needed to Antepartum and Postpartum (within scope)
- Participate in on-call rotation per unit expectation
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year L&D experience in a large, high-acuity unit
- Competency in:
- Fetal heart monitoring
- Circulating C-sections
- Postpartum care, baby nurse duties
- Meconium deliveries
- Strong experience with complex obstetric/premature deliveries
Certifications & Licensing
- BLS, ACLS, NRP required
- No RQI certifications accepted
- NM license or Compact – pending license accepted at time of submission
Unit Procedures & Clinical Exposure
- Cerclage, C-section, PPTL, versions
- External and internal fetal monitoring
- AROM, medically assisted deliveries
- Massive transfusion protocol
- Neonatal palliative care
- Nitrous program
- C-hyst procedures
Scheduling & Expectations
- Nights: 4×12s (19:00–07:30)
- 36-hour and 48-hour contracts available
- On-call required:
- 4×12 schedule → 12 hrs per 4-week period
- 3×12 schedule → 24 hrs per 4-week period
- No specific weekend guarantee due to schedule variability
- RTO > 7 days requires approval
- Block scheduling not guaranteed
- Locals not accepted (75-mile radius rule)
