PCU RN Job Details
- Location: Lafayette, IN 47905
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/2/2025 – End: 3/3/2026)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (18:00 – 06:30)

- Unit: PCU2 – Cardiac and Medical Progressive Care Unit (ICU Stepdown)
- Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
- Bed Count: 27
- Charting System: Cerner EMR
- Scrub Colors: Red top, black bottoms
- Parking: Free on-site parking
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 18 months of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Stepdown RN experience
- Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand before start date)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (NIHSS preferred)
- Proficiency in telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Experience in Level I, II, III, or IV healthcare settings
- Charge Nurse experience and conscious sedation preferred
- Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two supervisor references required
- Travel nurses must not be local residents of Indiana
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced PCU/ICU stepdown environment
- Monitor and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopamine, Nitro, Cardizem, Amiodarone)
- Perform telemetry monitoring, IV starts, and manage BiPAP/high-flow oxygen therapies
- Care for post-cardiac angiogram and post-cardiac catheterization patients
- Respond to rapid response and code situations as needed
- Float to other units within the hospital or affiliated hospitals as required
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic medical records
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
