Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or weekend option available
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 13-week contract length with bi-weekly orientation starting 12/29 or 1/12
• Care for post procedure cardiac patients (cath/stents/interventions, pacers, ICD, ablation), STEMI/NSTEMI identification, carotid endarterectomy, sepsis, and neuro patients (CVAs, seizures, possible TBI)
• Work on 19-bed blended unit (8 designated stepdown beds, 11 med-surg/telemetry)
• Patient ratio: Days 1:5-6, nights 1:4
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Newburgh (8 miles) and potentially to Deaconess Henderson, KY (11 miles)
• Required to work three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• Must wear navy blue scrubs with no competing health systems or agency logos
• Required certifications: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years solid stepdown experience plus 1 travel contract OR 5 years solid stepdown experience
• Recent EPIC experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Must pass telemetry tests and demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Skillset requirements include tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, post heart cath care, drip initiation/titration, NIHSS/neuro assessments, sepsis care, chest tubes, and PIV insertion
• May require precepting of students and new hires as this is a teaching hospital
• Associate Degree or Certificate required
