Med/Surg RN Job Details – Austin, TX
- Job Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift
- Location: North Austin, TX 78758 (Texas healthcare jobs)
- Facility: 32-bed Med/Surg unit (3 North)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (potential extension)
- Start Date: December 22, 2025
- End Date: March 23, 2026
- Employment Type: Travel RN contract
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1360-$1460
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Recent telemetry nursing experience
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent hospital RN experience required
- 3+ years of nursing experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and owner mentality
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment
- Must wear navy blue scrubs with facility logo
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical patients in a 32-bed unit
- Serve as charge nurse as needed, providing clinical support and leadership
- Monitor patient status, perform assessments, and implement nursing interventions
- Operate equipment including bladder scanners, vital sign monitors, telemetry, and patient lifts
- Document all care in Meditech EMR system
- Maintain safe patient ratios (6:1) during night shifts
- Collaborate with RNs, LVNs, and PCTs to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Promote a positive, professional environment focused on continuous improvement
