Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of recent nursing experience in the Operating Room (OR RN experience required)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care to surgical patients using evidence-based practices and the nursing process
- Perform all duties required by the surgical unit, specific to the scope of clinical service
- Implement operating room procedures and maintain a safe, sterile environment
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care and surgical procedures
- Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Modify care plans based on ongoing evaluation and patient needs
- Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing potential hazards
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Collaborate with colleagues and provide constructive feedback to enhance clinical skills
- Fulfill departmental competencies and participate in ongoing professional development
