Key Job Details – PCU RN
- Location: Albany, GA 31701 (Southwest Georgia healthcare jobs)
- Facility Setting: Acute Care – Cardiac Stepdown (Progressive Care Unit)
- Contract Length: 17 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 5/4/2026)
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45pm – 6:45am)
- Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float to ICU (stepdown patients only unless ICU experience)
- Orientation: 3 shifts (floor-specific)
- EMR System: Meditech
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1740 - $1860
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown/PCU experience in an acute care hospital (required)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac telemetry strips
- Skilled in titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, etc.)
- Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Compliant with dress code: Caribbean Blue scrubs, natural colored hair, no artificial nails, no visible tattoos or facial piercings
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (per driver's license)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including post-cardiovascular surgery and procedures
- Monitor, interpret, and respond to changes in telemetry strips and patient condition
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips; manage high-flow oxygen therapies (BiPap, CPAP, Vapotherm)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams: nurse aides, charge nurses, hospitalists, intensivists, and ancillary staff
- Participate in fast-paced patient admissions and discharges, ensuring accurate clinical documentation
- Float to ICU for stepdown patients as needed (ICU experience preferred for full ICU assignments)
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and attendance requirements
- Engage in ongoing learning and orientation to new clinical procedures (e.g., pulling pacer wires)
