Job Title: Oncology Nurse Navigator (RN)
Shift Schedule:
- Days 5×8 (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM )hour shifts 40 hours per week
- No weekends
- No holidays
- No call
Job Summary:
The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) is an experienced oncology nurse who provides individualized support to cancer patients, their families, and caregivers across the full cancer care continuum. The ONN identifies personal, clinical, and systemic barriers to care, assists with problem-solving, coordinates resources and referrals, and supports smooth access to treatment to promote improved outcomes.
The ONN works collaboratively with physicians, infusion center staff, social workers, case management, and the full oncology care team to guide patients from diagnosis through survivorship or end-of-life care. This role reports directly to the Director of Oncology and Infusion Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individualized needs assessments for oncology patients and caregivers
- Facilitate timely access to care, services, and support resources
- Identify and mitigate barriers across the cancer care continuum
- Coordinate communication between patients and multidisciplinary care teams
- Deliver education, emotional support, and advocacy for patients and families
- Maintain comprehensive documentation in accordance with departmental standards
- Participate in quality initiatives and ongoing departmental collaboration
Requirements:
- Active Massachusetts RN License
- BLS from AHA
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- BSN preferred
- Must demonstrate continued professional development and ongoing education
- 3–5 years of oncology nursing experience preferred
- Oncology certification (e.g., OCN)
