Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring dysrhythmia competency and one year of recent acute care and travel experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Care for pre/post cath patients, post strokes, Afib, CHF exacerbation, and mixed telemetry patients
- Patient ratios are 1:4-5
- Utilize equipment such as Alaris pumps, LifPak Defib monitors, Hoyer lifts, glucometers, Dynamaps, and Kangaroo pumps
- Float to other Med/Surg units may be required
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday coverage required
- Unit uses Epic EMR and Epic experience is preferred
- Drips used include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin (non-titratable)
- Scrub color must be navy blue, white, or any combination of these colors
- Study guides for dysrhythmia exam will be provided
- Holiday and every other weekend work is required
- Patient population includes mixed telemetry cases; no sheath pulling required (performed in Cath Lab)
- Testing for EKG competency will be conducted on day one
- Interviews will be conducted by the internal team
- First time travelers are not eligible for this position
Requirements
- Active RN license in VA or Compact state
- At least one year of recent acute care RN experience
- At least one year of travel nursing experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on first day with up to two attempts allowed
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
