Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Michigan or compact state
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
- Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in a Med/Surg hospital setting
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for each patient
- Deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients in the Med/Surg unit
- Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff
- Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses
- Participate in interdisciplinary healthcare team conferences and contribute to patient rehabilitation programs
- Initiate discharge planning and patient/family education from admission
- Promote patient and employee safety by following hospital policies and safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with physicians, charge nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain a positive, collaborative work environment and contribute to team building
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
