Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring a WV or compact RN license and BLS/NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care Med/Surg overflow unit with 30 beds
- Care for adult patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and post-operative conditions
- Nurse-to-patient ratios up to 1:7
- Intermittent use of BIPAP devices, no ventilator care required
- Tele monitored remotely by monitor technicians
- 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, including scheduled weekends
- Floating required based on census, with external travelers floated first
- Uses EPIC electronic medical record system
- Nurse aides (PCTs) provide support on the unit
- A charge RN is present on the floor with assignment
- Scrub color requirement is navy blue
- Orientation will not be provided
- Holiday coverage and weekend shifts are assigned as scheduled
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Do not submit if currently or recently employed within WVU Medicine system unless 2-year break has occurred
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience
- Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications
- Ability to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT
- Must provide a copy of unexpired driver’s license during consideration
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates with previous WVU Medicine employment must have a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may only work within WVU for up to one year before a mandatory 2-year break
