ICU Nursing Job Details
- Location: Norwich, Connecticut 06360
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with ICU overflow – 25 beds
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend, holidays as needed
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 (floor), 1:3 (PCU), 1:2 (ICU)
- Clinical Cases: Chest pain, stroke care, respiratory failure, sepsis
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS)
ICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU and PCU settings
- Monitor, assess, and respond rapidly to changes in patient conditions
- Administer medications, treatments, and advanced clinical interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR
- Participate in stroke management as part of a primary stroke center
- Educate and support patients and families with compassionate communication
