Job Overview
We are seeking highly skilled Cardiac PICU (Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU) RN Travelers for 13-week contracts at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in the Omaha, NE area. 32-bed unit with average daily census of 21. Patient ratios 1:2. Unit cares for post-op open hearts, single ventricles, complex congenital cardiac disease, heart transplant, and heart failure. Heavy use of invasive monitoring, ECMO, CRRT, vasopressors, cardiac/sedation drips. Unit accepts 1st-time travelers. Minimum 2 years cardiac ICU + peds experience required.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, assess, and provide nursing care according to hospital mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures.
- Deliver high-quality care with professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, and good public/customer relations.
- Complete applicable hospital and department-specific RN competencies within 3 months of hire/transfer.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Provide patient and family education to support optimal outcomes.
Qualifications
Required:
- Active Nebraska RN license (or compact) in hand at submission.
- Minimum 2 years recent Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience.
- Pediatric experience required.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (all AHA).
- 100-mile radius rule – locals not accepted.
- Former permanent employees of Children’s Hospital & Medical Center not eligible for travel contracts.
Schedule
- 36 hours per week, 3x12-hour shifts.
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekends every 6 weeks.
- Float required to PICU, NICU, Med/Surg.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
- Cancellation policy: Up to 3 shift call-offs per contract.
