The Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR)
Engineer provides field engineering oversight on Voltage Regulator projects
and other related scopes. The successful candidate performs inspection,
testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning in addition to communicating with
customers both internal and external.
This position is part of the Turbine and Generator
Specialty Services group based in Region North America but serves customers
globally.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys traveling, working
in small teams or solo, solving complex electrical issues, and is looking to
begin or continue their engineering career with a growing dynamic company!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Support routine and forced outage AVR maintenance checks.
- Provide voltage regulator and generator interface knowledge
and expertise to division management, customer management, product line
management, and suppliers.
- Perform Analog to Digital AVR retrofits, Mobile Exciter
Installation and Commissioning, GenAdvisor Installation and Commissioning,
and advanced electrical troubleshooting
- Perform testing in support of the Generator Services product
line such as exciter testing, Thermovision, and other specialty scopes as business
needs dictate
- You
will serve as the primary customer contact during AVR outages and ensure
that repairs are made in a timely and accurate manner
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in
engineering or similar field required
- 5+ years of experience in field
service is preferred or a combination of experience and transferrable
skills and accomplishments
- Must be willing to travel for
extended periods of time. (Typical travel is 200-250 days per year for
anywhere from 2-15 weeks at a time; While deployed, expect extended
working hours of up to 12-14 hours per day including weekends/holidays, 6
– 7 days per week.).
- While deployed,
you will work extended working hours of up to 12-14 hours per day
including weekends/holidays, 6 – 7 days per week. A typical work week can
be 60-84 hours.
- You can:
ascend/descend ladders to examine equipment, position yourself to examine
equipment including in confined spaces, move boxes weighing up to 40
pounds, work in outdoor weather conditions, walk long distances and share
cramped office trailer with other employees.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the
United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work

eligible for internal transfers.
