Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring Epic proficiency and BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, MOAB or CPI, and TNCC certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department with 32 beds
- Patient population includes adults with general ED complaints, chest and abdominal pain, shortness of breath, behavioral health, geriatrics, and occasional pediatrics or L&D cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
- Uses Epic for charting, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Telemetry competency must be completed and passed prior to start
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as needed by the unit
- Support includes patient care techs, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and ED doctors and mid-level providers after hours
- No patient assignment for charge nurse
- General hospital orientation provided, with 1-2 shifts on unit followed by independent shifts
- Phlebotomy and lab draws are completed by nursing staff and techs
- Scrub color is flexible; any color is acceptable
- Free parking available on site
- Receptionist and HUC support available 24/7
- Up to 7 days RTO considered, additional days require approval
- Preceptors move through each shift, with orientation details for CAP travelers included
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience for traditional travelers, or 4 years for CAP travelers
- Current and valid certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, MOAB 1 & 2 or CPI, and TNCC
- Strong team player with organizational and communication skills
- Epic charting system experience required
- Cannot be a first-time traveler
- Telemetry competency assessment required prior to start
