Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Martinsburg, West Virginia (25401)
- Healthcare Setting: Acute Care – Medical Surgical, 5th Floor
- Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 26, 2025
- End Date: February 25, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts/week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1930–$2070
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend, holidays as needed
- Unit Size: 35 beds (flex up to 42)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Charting System: Epic EMR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (open to candidates awaiting West Virginia licensure)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- ACLS certification preferred
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Proficiency in basic arrhythmia recognition and ability to identify fatal rhythms
- Willingness to float to other Med/Surg units as needed
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to diverse patient populations, including cardiac, renal, oncology, stroke, trauma, and wound care cases
- Monitor patients on remote telemetry and respond promptly to changes in condition
- Administer IV medications (Heparin, Protonix) and manage non-titrating drips
- Collaborate with hospitalists, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
- Participate in unit-specific orientation (1-2 shifts with a preceptor)
- Maintain professional appearance (navy blue scrubs, natural hair color, cover tattoos as required)
- Support unit staffing needs by working every other weekend and holidays as needed
