PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

- Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2100-$2250
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs required
- EMR System: Epic (Epic EMR experience required)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State or compact state
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or ICU nursing experience in an adult or community hospital
- ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Proficiency in advanced hemodynamics and pressor titration protocols
- Experience caring for patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, and complex surgical needs
- Skilled with HFNC, BiPap/CPAP, a-line, CVP, EVD, ortho traction, and infection prevention
- Must pass a clinical competency test within 24 hours of submission
- Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to high-acuity PCU patients (average patient load: 3)
- Manage patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, and complex trauma cases
- Administer and titrate antihypertensive, sedative, narcan drips, and thrombo-embolytics per protocol
- Monitor and interpret advanced hemodynamic data
- Implement infection prevention protocols and ensure patient safety
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Accurately document nursing care in Epic EMR
