Compensation

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
- Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York nursing jobs)
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown
- Assignment Length: 16 weeks (option to extend)
- Start Date: December 29, 2025
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend; 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Day/Eve)
- Floating: Resource Float team; float to appropriate units as needed
- Documentation System: EPIC EMR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York or proof of application
- Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in Progressive Care, Cardiac Stepdown, or acute care nursing
- At least 1 year of specialty experience as a Cardiac Stepdown RN
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications (required for all RN jobs)
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Recent EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Ability to float to Medical/Surgical Telemetry and ED Hold units
- Reliable transportation required (public transportation not available)
- Comfortable caring for adult patients with complex cardiac and medical needs
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a Cardiac Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit
- Monitor and manage patients with acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, post-cardiac procedures, and complex cardiac conditions
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips, insulin drips, and other critical care medications
- Perform and interpret EKGs, initiate IVs, and manage post-cardiac catheterization care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory therapists and advanced practice providers
- Document all patient care activities in EPIC EMR
- Float to other units as assigned, supporting Medical/Surgical Telemetry and ED Hold patients
- Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training
