CVICU RN Job Details

- Unit: Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (Days: 07:00-19:30, Nights: 19:00-07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2040-$2100
- Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Floating: May float within scope to meet unit needs
CVICU RN Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or critical care nursing experience
- Active Colorado or Compact Registered Nurse license
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends
- Strong clinical skills in managing complex cardiac and thoracic patients
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and thoracic patients
- Monitor and manage patients requiring advanced therapies such as ECMO, VADs, IABP, and ventilator support
- Administer and titrate vasoactive medications and cardiac drips
- Assist with and manage invasive lines, chest tubes, and drains
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic
- Participate in patient and family education and support
- Float to similar critical care units as needed to support patient care
