PCU Nursing Job Details
- Job Title: PCU Float Pool Registered Nurse (Travel Assignment)
- Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,940 - $1,990
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
- Healthcare Setting: Float Pool – may float to any stepdown/PCU area, including Ross Heart, Brain & Spine, and Dodd campuses
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience
- Active Registered Nurse license (compact or Ohio RN license required)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Clinical skills: IV start, telemetry, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, dysrhythmia interpretation, tracheostomy care, wound care
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in progressive care and stepdown units
- Float between various PCU and stepdown units, adapting to diverse patient populations
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage IVs, central lines, and advanced medical equipment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy
- Participate in rapid response/code teams and adhere to isolation precautions
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Support pre/post-procedural care and assist with special procedures
