Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position requiring SD/PCU experience and proficiency with EPIC EMR.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Cardiac Stepdown unit with a typical patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Patient population includes heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and drug or ETOH overdose/withdrawal
- Competency with IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin required
- Uses EPIC EMR system
- Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 to 19:30
- Floating required to other affiliated campuses within 15 miles
- Traveler will be the first to float as needed
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday
- Provide care for a diverse cardiac and stepdown patient population
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO must be requested with initial application and is subject to manager approval
- Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives
- Premier Health may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract or terminate contract with 2 weeks' notice
- Must support and assist the nursing care team on floated units as needed
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent SD/PCU experience with documented 1:5 ratio
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
- IV start competency required
- EPIC experience required
- Ability to be fitted for N95 respirator prior to assignment, or use PAPR if needed
- Travel nursing experience and Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred
- Locals within 50 miles are not eligible
