Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Sonographer for an acute care echocardiography assignment requiring adult echo competency and BLS and RDCS-AE certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care setting within the echocardiography department
- Primary responsibilities include performing adult echocardiograms and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs)
- Department has two dedicated rooms and one holding area to accommodate scanning in three locations
- Average caseload of 15–20 studies per day
- Uses Phillips ultrasound equipment, EPIC EMR, and PACS
- Day shifts of 8 or 10 hours, with call for stat echoes on evenings/nights every third night
- Every third Saturday is required with call continuing through Sunday when assigned
- No floating outside the echo department
- Must disclose any background hits for consideration
- Scrubs are provided as part of the dress code
- No requirement to start IVs, as collaboration with cath lab RNs is provided when needed
- No local travelers accepted; must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates with prior employment at WVU Medicine locations require a two-year break before reapplying as a traveler
- Travelers may not exceed one year cumulative service within WVU Medicine without taking a mandatory two-year break
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in echocardiography
- Active BLS (AHA) certification
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) via ARDMS is required; RCS or RDMS/ARDMS with AE or PE considered a plus
- Proficiency in standard echocardiography and TEEs; pediatric echo experience is highly desirable
- Must be able to provide an unexpired driver's license for consideration
- Experience with EPIC and PACS systems
- License required if applicable
