Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Mayfield, KY 42066 (Western Kentucky healthcare jobs)
- Unit: Medical/Surgical Unit (65 beds)
- Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/30/2025 – End: 3/1/2026)
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend required
- Hours: 36 hours per week (guaranteed)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1800
- Patient Ratios: Up to 1:8 with Patient Care Assistant (PCA) support
- Electronic Health Record: Meditech
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active and unencumbered RN license (Kentucky or compact state)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience
- BLS certification (required before start date)
- CPI, HWC, or MAB certification (required before start date)
- Ability to float to similar hospital units as needed
- Demonstrated compassion, kindness, and strong patient care skills
- Must reside at least 60 miles from Mayfield, KY to qualify as a travel nurse
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Med/Surg unit
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as COPD, post-operative joints, diabetes, and more
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment following hospital policies
- Participate in weekly orientation sessions (Mondays)
