Texas Nursing Job Details
- Job Title: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: San Marcos, Texas 78666
- Assignment Type: Travel Nurse, On-Site
- Start Date: December 8, 2025
- End Date: March 1, 2026
- Contract Duration: 12 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Schedule: Full-time, every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,360 - $1,460 per week
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas or compact state (required for Texas nursing jobs)
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- ACLS certification (AHA only)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, or similar clinical nursing specialty preferred
- Completion of New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire
- Successful competency validation and annual verifications
Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care to cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)
- Administer medications and treatments per clinical protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
- Accurately document patient history, symptoms, medications, and nursing care provided
- Assess and address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care plans, discharge instructions, and available healthcare resources
- Delegate and assign tasks to clinical support staff to ensure effective patient management
- Participate in ongoing competency and skills validation for nursing professionals
- Work every other weekend; on-call only with low census (limited to once every 2 weeks)
