Key Job Details – PCU RN Travel Assignment
- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 17, 2025
- End Date: February 16, 2026
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1910–$1960
- Unit: 8 Mountain PCU (20-bed telemetry unit)
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Orientation: 32 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
- At least 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, or telemetry RN experience
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system
- Proficiency in telemetry, cardiac drips (no titration), and clinical support skills
- Competency in central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response/code team participation, and non-invasive airway management
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Ability to float to other PCU or Medical Surgical units as needed
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with pulmonary and general medicine diagnoses
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage cardiac drips, and care for tracheostomy and ventilated patients (non-ICU level)
- Administer medications, blood products, and manage central/peripheral lines
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EHR
- Maintain a safe environment and follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols
- Participate in rapid response and code situations
- Float to other Progressive Care or Medical Surgical units as required
