Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Nashville, TN 37203 (Tennessee nursing jobs)
- Unit: 12 Tower – Medical/Surgical (36 beds)
- Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- End Date: April 13, 2026
- Duration: 13-week travel nursing assignment
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00–07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5
- Documentation: Meditech EMR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience
- Proficient in patient assessments and general care for wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures
- Experience with post-op procedures: amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, wound vacs
- Familiarity with clinical equipment: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV Pumps
- Ability to float over core staff as needed
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients, including those requiring dialysis or PCA pumps (Heparin is the only drip)
- Conduct bedside shift reports and safety checks every 1–2 hours
- Maintain accurate documentation using Meditech EMR
- Follow hospital policies for HAI and fall prevention, CVC and Foley monitoring, and 100% medication scanning
- Collaborate with a youthful, energetic healthcare team focused on patient outcomes and continuous improvement
- Provide care in an overflow non-ICU COVID unit as needed
- Uphold attendance and dress code policies (scrubs: navy, blue, white, black, gray, ceil blue)
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
