Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring an active MA RN license and prior travel nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a large hospital float pool supporting 15 medical surgical units, including neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, surgery, gynecology, urology, orthopedics, oncology, and transplant
- Patient ratios range from 4:1 on days to 6:1 on nights
- Rotating 12-hour shifts, with a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts; may rotate days, evenings, and nights, including some weekends and holidays
- No on-call required
- Assignments to specific units may be given 2 hours prior to shift start
- Unit-specific procedures include 12-lead EKGs, Lasix gtt, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
- Epic EMR experience required
- Respiratory Therapists manage ventilators; RNs administer nebulizers
- Travel RNs support various high-acuity med/surg units with specialization in multiple practice areas
- Weekly orientation sessions held every Monday except for holidays
- Schedules are not guaranteed and are subject to change; all requested time off must be declared at the time of application
- Any color scrubs may be worn
- Parking for dayshift can cost up to $43 per day; public transportation options are available
- Time off may not exceed 4 days, and requests for blocked scheduling or specific days off week over week are not allowed
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 3 years of recent related RN experience in med/surg telemetry
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
- Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area preferred
- Level I trauma experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Basic computer and web-based application navigation skills
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
- Must pass Tele/ECG and Medication tests
- COVID-19 vaccine with booster and seasonal flu vaccine required (medical exemptions permitted)
- Previous employees/travelers must have a 6-month break before returning to the facility
