RN Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania or compact state
- Minimum 1 year of recent perioperative, outpatient, or surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- Strong clinical assessment, IV therapy, and electronic documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced perioperative healthcare environment
Perioperative RN Responsibilities
- Assess and address the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of perioperative patients
- Serve as a patient advocate and implement individualized nursing care plans
- Communicate patient assessments and coordinate care with the multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Demonstrate expertise in diagnostic measures (labs, radiology, EKG) and IV therapy
- Accurately transcribe and implement physician orders
- Document all patient care in electronic medical records promptly and accurately
- Ensure completion of all pre- and post-surgical procedures and required documentation
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-operative care
- Assist with supply management and cost containment initiatives
- Support housekeeping and patient turnover as needed
- Provide nursing care in PACU, pain management, and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned
- Participate in committee meetings and contribute to quality improvement processes
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and unit operations
