Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a current VA or compact RN license and at least one year of recent acute care and travel experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is on a mixed surgical Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 30 beds, flexing up to 37 beds when needed
- Patient population includes post trauma, general surgery, and smaller orthopedic cases
- Nursing ratios are typically 1:5-6
- Work schedule is night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
- Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units may be required
- Phlebotomy duties may be assigned with 1-2 CNAs and sitters available per shift
- EPIC is used as the EMR, and prior experience is preferred
- Care for post-surgical and post-trauma patients with a focus on telemetry monitoring
- Expected to participate in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary care team and serve as a care coordinator
- Scrubs must be navy blue, white, or a combination of both
- Pass/fail EKG testing is required on day one, with a study guide provided
- Orientation and on-unit training provided as necessary
- Holiday and every other weekend coverage are mandatory requirements
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- At least 1 year of recent acute care RN experience is required
- Minimum of 1 year prior travel nursing experience is required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on the first day with up to two attempts
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
