Medical/Surgical RN Job Details

- Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Unit (63 beds), Surgical Acute Care
- Job Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
- Start Date: December 15, 2025
- End Date: April 20, 2026
- Assignment Length: 18 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1990-$2130
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:30pm – 7:30am), 3 shifts/week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend & rotating holidays
- Charting System: EPIC EMR
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or proof of application in process
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- At least 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience
- Strong post-operative care, critical thinking, and clinical assessment skills
- Excellent bedside manner and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Ability to pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus)
Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to post-op surgical, trauma, and medical overflow patients
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, and manage drains, NG tubes, central lines, and TPN
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care technicians, and respiratory therapists
- Monitor patients on telemetry (central monitoring station; no strip reading required)
- Float to similar medical/surgical units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Accurately document patient care and progress using EPIC electronic medical records
- Participate in orientation and ongoing professional development opportunities
