PCU Nursing Job Details
- Location: Asheville, North Carolina (28801)
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), K7 Floor, K Tower
- Assignment Type: Travel RN job
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- End Date: March 2, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:45AM - 7:15PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Open Positions: 2
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or stepdown nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Neuro and trauma care experience preferred
- Ability to float to stepdown and medical-surgical units
- Strong teamwork skills and patient-centered approach
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit
- Monitor and assess neuro and trauma patients
- Perform neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, and manage TLSO braces
- Administer IV infusions, operate PCA pumps, and manage chest tubes and tracheostomies
- Assist with feeding tube placement, lumbar drains, and blood transfusions
- Document patient care using Cerner EMR
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain patient safety and comply with all unit policies and clinical guidelines
