ICU RN Travel Job Details
- Location: Richmond, VA 23226 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Unit: ICU (Intensive Care Unit / Critical Care Nursing)
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/1/2025 – End: 2/28/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights; every other weekend and major holiday required
- Hours per week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,880 - $2,020
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:1-2 (subject to staffing changes)
- Scrubs: Navy blue, white, or combination
ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required for Virginia nursing jobs)
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU RN experience (critical care nursing experience required)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required for ICU nurse jobs)
- Successful completion of Advanced Arrhythmia Exam at orientation (study guide provided)
- Copy of nursing diploma or transcript required
- Proficient in ICU skills: sepsis management, conscious sedation, ventilator management, IABP, pressors/gtts, PA catheters
- Experience with Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, tube feeding, NGT, chest tubes, wound vac
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions and high-stress environments
ICU RN Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring in the ICU
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for critically ill patients
- Administer medications and manage advanced life-support equipment (ventilators, CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO)
- Conduct hemodynamic monitoring and care for patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and communicate with patient families
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Educate patients and families, providing support during critical illness or injury
- Demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and compassion in all patient interactions
