A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Generator Component
Design Department, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing
and optimization of Large Electric Generators for the Fossil and Nuclear Power
industry. You will develop recommendations for new products, processes, or
design changes to an evolving market and customer requirements. In addition,
apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems, not covered by existing
procedures or practices.
The ideal candidate displays a high level of critical
thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or
multi-functional problems. They will be highly organized and possess a strong
background in CAD/CAE fundamentals, GD&T methods, machine design, failure
mode analysis and product development processes.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Execute engineering
optimization studies. Interface with manufacturing engineering and supply
management to assure competitive and cost-efficient designs. Contribute to the
Conceptional, Basic and Detailed design of Large Electric Generators for both
Service and New Apparatus product.
- Perform complex analytical
studies of generator components using ANSYS or similar code. Prepare detailed
Product Definition, including CAD Models, technical drawings and Bills of
Materials.
- Contribute to the
preparation and execution of Design Reviews as required by internal
requirements. Release engineering information to support the manufacture and
service repair of Generator Rotors, Stators, Exciters, and Collector products.
- Support manufacturing with
technical advice, troubleshooting, co-operative problem solving, disposition of
product deviations, process reviews, and execution of design improvements.
- Assist in the
resolution/remediation of product issues and participate in root cause
analyses.
- Communicate effectively
with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing personnel through clear, concise
and complete verbal and written instructions, specifications, and reports.
What You Bring
- BS degree in Mechanical
Engineering, MSME is a plus! 10+ years’ experience in design (experience in
analytics, data science, Finite Element Analysis), analysis, and/or maintenance
of rotating machinery; in the power generation industry.
- Previous experience in
design, analysis, and/or maintenance of rotating machinery; in the power
generation industry preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in
CAD, GD&T and CAE fundamentals.
- Previous experience with
SAP, Teamcenter, and NX Modeling Software knowledge is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with good
analytical skills. Self-motivated and able to collaborate effectively in a team
