Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Medical Specialties unit treating medically complex adult patients, with recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma experience required.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Medical Specialties unit of a hospital setting
- Primarily cares for patients with acute or chronic medical conditions including sepsis, kidney disease, diabetes, GI and respiratory illnesses, and complex wounds
- Patient population includes adults with CF, infectious diseases, substance misuse, cardiac, and liver issues
- Unit size includes 36-bed (1 East) and 25-bed (2/3 East) assignments
- Handles telemetry, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, chest tubes, trachs/laryngectomies, and care for post-surgical patients
- D/N rotation schedule with 36 hours per week
- Responsible for care and maintenance of central lines and blood draws
- Manage advanced lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical and medically complex patients
- No local candidates permitted due to 75-mile radius rule
- Work with a multidisciplinary team in a nationally recognized CF center
Requirements
- Active NH or compact RN license required and must remain valid for duration of assignment
- Current BLS certification required
- Recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma hospital experience within the last 2 years required
- Proficiency in chest tubes, various drips (Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, amiodarone), central line care, telemetry, trachs/laryngectomies, and complex wound care
- Must live more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
