ICU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC 20010 (ideal for those seeking Washington DC nursing jobs)
- Unit: 3G Neuro Trauma ICU
- Contract Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: December 22, 2025
- End Date: March 23, 2026
- Shift: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (primarily days, up to two weeks of nights per six-week schedule)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Setting: Comprehensive Stroke Center – Adult & Geriatric ICU patients
- Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1650-$1770
ICU Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience (Neuro ICU or Neuro Trauma ICU preferred)
- Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending accepted with proof; must be in hand prior to start)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- CCRN certification preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (80% overall, 100% lethal rhythms)
- Two supervisor references required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care to neuro trauma ICU patients, including those with SAH, ICH, ischemic stroke, brain mass, and head trauma
- Manage and monitor specialized ICU equipment: EVDs, Raumedic Bolt, Artic Sun, CVVH, lytic catheters, Flo-tracker, PA-catheter
- Perform conscious sedation, intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, and ventilator management
- Administer blood products and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, central line care, and IV starts
- Float to other ICU and IMC units as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
- Document patient care using Cerner electronic charting system
