Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a high-risk unit requiring strong ECG interpretation and immediate newborn care skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a high-risk hospital Labor & Delivery and Antenatal unit
- Unit features 19 labor rooms, 12 antepartum rooms, 4 recovery rooms, 8 triage rooms, and 3 OR suites
- Approximately 4000 annual deliveries with Level 2 trauma designation
- Patient ratio is typically 2:1
- RNs circulate and recover C-sections as needed
- Day shifts are 12 hours in length
- All RNs must pick up one extra shift per 4-week schedule cycle
- Scheduling can rotate to the opposite shift on a monthly basis according to need
- On-call is not required
- RNs are responsible for immediate newborn care and advanced fetal monitoring
- Hospital provides orientation every Monday
- Block scheduling is not available
- Local candidates are accepted except those with a permanent address in Tallahassee
- No significant work history gaps over 30 days without explanation will be accepted
- Unit is part of a comprehensive stroke and chest pain center
- First-time travelers considered if all requirements are met
Requirements
- Active FL or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience, including 2 years in Labor & Delivery or LDRP/Mother-Baby
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications
- Expertise in interpreting ECGs and immediate newborn care required
- Must have up-to-date skills checklist and two professional references dated within 12 months
