Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Richmond, VA 23230
- Healthcare Setting: Critical Illness and Rehabilitation Hospital
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
- Start Date: November 10, 2025
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts/week)
- Open RN Positions: 2
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1740 - $1860 per week
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
- BLS Certification (required before first shift)
- ACLS Certification (required before first shift)
- Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing
- PCU or Critical Care RN experience highly preferred
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission
- Develop and implement individualized care plans with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education from admission
- Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team for optimal patient safety
- Supervise and mentor Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff
- Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital policies and best practices
- Participate in team building and foster a positive work environment
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education
