Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (Greater Richmond area)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit (10 LDR beds, 2 triage, 2 OR)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7p-7a); every other weekend & major holiday required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 11/17/2025 – End: 2/14/2026)
- On-Call: None
- Interview: Not required
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1990 - $2130
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required for all nursing jobs in VA)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required (NRP may be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Fetal monitoring experience required (certification not mandatory)
- Ability to circulate for deliveries (scrubbing not required)
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius (no local candidates)
L&D RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to women and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop and implement individualized care plans
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal monitoring strips, and respond to changes in patient condition
- Circulate for deliveries and assist with emergency interventions as needed
- Educate and support patients and families throughout the childbirth experience, including breastfeeding support and discharge teaching
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Float to Mother/Baby unit as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety and quality standards
