Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Des Moines, Iowa 50309 – Central Iowa healthcare jobs
- Facility: Level I Trauma Center, Operating Room
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/24/2025 – End: 2/23/2026)
- Shifts: Day shifts, 6:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
- Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts per week, 40 hours/week
- On-Call: Up to 2 overnight calls per week and 4 weekends per contract
- Unit Details: 16 OR suites, 35-50 surgical cases per day
- Surgical Specialties: Cardiac, vascular, thoracic, neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplants
- Scrubs: Provided by facility
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2560 - $2750
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 3 years of recent hospital Operating Room RN experience (outpatient experience not accepted)
- Level I trauma center experience required
- Strong proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases
- Previous travel nursing contract completed within the last 12 months (no first-time travelers)
- Scrub nurse experience required
- Experience with EPIC EMR system
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
- At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Circulate and scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures, focusing on cardiac and trauma cases
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
- Maintain efficient operating room turnover (goal: less than 20 minutes)
- Float between all hospital campuses as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation, including overnight and weekend shifts
- Accurately document patient care and surgical procedures using EPIC EMR
- Comply with hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
