Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg position requiring strong neuro skills, night shifts, and WV or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities
- Acute care Med/Surg Neuro unit with 20 beds
- Patient population includes neuroscience cases, DBS, stroke, seizures, post-op spines, and neurological disorders
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 for floor patients
- Night shift position from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, including weekends (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday schedules)
- Assignment length is 13 weeks
- Requires flexibility to float to units including 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as needed
- Uses Epic EMR; recent Epic experience required
- Tele monitoring is present; RNs verify monitor tech readings in Epic
- Charge nurse and nurse aides are present 24/7
- Expected to work into the holiday rotation as part of contract
- Flexible with weekend scheduling
- Dress code is any combination of white and royal blue scrubs
- Will receive one shift of unit-specific orientation
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local travelers accepted
- Former WVU employees must have a two-year break before reapplying as a traveler, and cumulative assignments cannot exceed one year without a break
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license in hand
- Minimum two years of recent neuro nursing experience in an acute care setting
- BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required; NIHSS must be in hand at time of consideration
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency with G-tubes required
- ACLS certification preferred
