Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a PICU RN with two years of experience and an active NJ or compact license for a pediatric intensive care contract.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a hospital setting
- Assignments may include floating to adolescents, pediatrics, pediatric hematology/oncology, and NICU units
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:1-2 for ICU and 1:3 for intermediate care, adjusted by acuity
- Shift is 3x12 days, 7:00–19:30
- Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
- Uses EPIC for electronic charting
- Required to float within skillset based on staffing needs
- Responsibilities include care of critically ill pediatric and adolescent patients with complex medical needs
- Must be competent with high-flow nasal cannula, ETT management, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, wound care, trauma, and insulin pumps
- Expected to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Must have been separated from prior employment with the health system for at least one year if previously employed
- Candidates must complete Epic and other required facility modules prior to start
Requirements
- Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of two years of recent pediatric ICU experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS; NIHSS preferred
- Proficient in central line/PICC/port access, CVP, CVVH, hemodynamic monitoring, EKG interpretation, procedural sedation, vasopressors, NG/IV/a-line/insulin/ports, EVD, VP shunt, ICP monitoring, and ventilator/trach management
- Prior experience with ECMO preferred
- Experience with Epic charting preferred
