Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a CA RN license, night shifts, and strong critical care certifications.
Responsibilities
- Position based in an acute care hospital Emergency Room with 24 beds and fast track area
- Nights shifts, primarily Fri-Sun, with 12-hour shifts that may include weekends and holidays
- Patient ratios typically range from 2:1 to 4:1 with an average of 250 ED visits per day
- Common patient types include cardiac (STEMI receiving), sepsis, stroke, DKA, ETOH, and general emergencies
- Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR system and GE telemetry monitors
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7
- ER techs support nursing staff with technical duties and patient monitoring
- No floating required for this position
- Responsibilities include triage, acute care management, and disposition planning for diverse emergency presentations
- Team consists of charge RNs, ER techs, MDs, PAs, and NPs; charge RN does not take patients
- Expect to work assigned holidays as part of the perm staff rotation
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Blue scrubs required for RN staff
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered CA RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience required, trauma experience preferred
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- Must provide two professional references: one from a supervisor within last 12 months, and one from a supervisor or peer within last 3 years
- Must supply a copy of a current driver’s license with application
- Successful completion of Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique skills testing required before start
- Candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year
