Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring night shifts, current BLS and NRP certifications, and at least one year of L&D experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 10 LDR beds, 2 triage rooms, and 2 ORs
- High-acuity patient population including those with language barriers, substance abuse, and chronic conditions affecting pregnancy
- Staffing typically includes 3 RNs and one tech per shift
- Patient ratios are typically 1:1–2, but may vary based on staffing
- Required to work 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a), every other weekend, and every other holiday
- No on-call responsibilities
- Occasional float to Mother/Baby unit may be required
- Uses equipment such as warmers, GE monitors, pulse oximeters, and blood glucose monitors
- Duties include assisting with labor and deliveries, monitoring fetal and maternal status, and participating in emergency management as needed
- Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary OB team including RNs and techs
- Provides care for high-risk pregnancies and complex obstetrical cases
- Holiday coverage will be required for alternate holidays
- Adherence to hospital policies and expected safety practices is required
- First-time travelers may be considered for this role
- No local candidates within a 50-mile radius will be accepted
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum of one year recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Prior experience assisting or scrubbing in OR for deliveries required
- Fetal monitoring experience required (certification not necessary)
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Must be able to pass EKG exam (study guides provided, two attempts allowed)
