Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Float Pool ICU position requiring strong mixed ICU skills and a valid MD or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work within a large teaching hospital in the Central Staffing float pool
- Float among various ICU and IMC specialties, including surgical, medical, neurological, and cardiac units
- Care for high-acuity patients with conditions such as trauma, transplant, vascular, GI, ortho-spine, neuro, oncology, pulmonary, renal, sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleed, liver failure, and DKA
- Manage ICU interventions such as CRRT, CVVHD, ventilated patients, titrating drips, A-lines, central lines, and Swan-Ganz catheters
- Utilize EPIC charting system if experienced
- Rotating shifts between days and nights (7A/7P)
- Position requires floating to various ICU and IMC units as needs arise
- Will provide care to a diverse, high-acuity patient population
- Team-oriented environment with support from experienced ICU staff
- No local radius restrictions except at Howard County General (60-mile rule applies there only)
- Candidates must be prepared for the demands of a large academic hospital setting
Requirements
- Active RN license for MD or compact state
- Current BLS certification required
- Strong mixed ICU nursing experience required
- Experience in facilities with 500+ bed capacity required
- ACLS certification and EPIC experience preferred
- Critical Care Certification and trauma course completion preferred
- Must be skilled in dysrhythmia management and advanced ICU procedures
