Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Michigan requiring L&D, Mother/Baby, and OB experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 15-bed LDRP hospital unit with 3 triage bays and 2 operating rooms
- Care for antepartum, laboring, newborn, and postpartum mother/baby patients
- RNs perform circulating, scrub, couplet care, lab draws, and newborn hearing screens
- Shift is 3x12 hour nights, 19:00–07:30
- No call required; must work every other weekend
- Floating required within LDRP, as a sitter on the house, and to a partner hospital's L&D and Mother/Baby units as needed
- Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Uses Epic for documentation
- RNs are responsible for providing care throughout the LDRP continuum, including OR circulating and scrub roles when appropriate
- Nurses will be trained to perform newborn hearing screens using the ALGO 5 machine
- All required modules are self-reported and completed during orientation and annually
- Only one holiday RTO is permitted (either the day or the eve/after, not both)
- No RTO is permitted in the first 8 days of the contract
- Scrubs are provided
- Locals are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
- Travelers are first to float when needed
- Return staff must have a 6-month gap before being considered
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
- Current certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate and/or NCC C-EFM required
- Circulating and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) triage skills required
- Scrubbing experience preferred
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
- Epic EMR documentation experience preferred
- References required for consideration
- Proof of flu vaccination or submitted exemption request required
