Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position in an acute care overflow unit, requiring a WV or compact RN license and med/surg experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 30-bed Medical Surgical overflow unit
- Patients include those with CHF, COPD, cellulitis, cholecystitis, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and acute kidney injury
- Typical RN-to-patient ratio is 1:6 to 1:7
- 12-hour night shifts with weekend shifts as scheduled
- Telemetry monitored remotely by dedicated techs
- Candidates may float as needed based on census, with external travelers floating first
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Nurse aides (PCTs) are present to support the care team
- Charge RN works an assignment alongside staff
- No call or standby requirements
- May float to other units as census requires
- Scrub color requirement is navy blue
- Return applicants must have a two-year break from previous WVU Medicine employment
- Travelers are limited to one year of cumulative assignments within WVU Medicine, after which a two-year break is required
- First-time travelers are considered
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years recent Medical Surgical RN experience
- Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications
- Must be comfortable titrating heparin drips based on aPTT results
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility—no local travelers allowed
- A copy of an unexpired driver’s license is required for consideration
