Job Description
      American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with cardiac and critical care skills for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma center in Illinois.
      
            Responsibilities
            - Work in a 20-bed ICU within an acute care hospital
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours, 18:00-06:30
- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Care for cardiac, neuro, and critically ill patients
- Floating is required within the hospital and affiliate locations
- Must work every other weekend
- Cerner charting experience is required
- Provide advanced care for critically ill and cardiac ICU patients
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Parking permit provided at no cost; form completed during orientation
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday time off is auto-approved; more requires approval
- Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month gap before consideration as a traveler
- Orientation includes completion of hospital modules, badge photo, and administrative requirements
Requirements
      - Active IL RN license required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years’ ICU experience, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI not accepted)
- Experience with interpretation/management of dysrhythmias and 12-lead EKG
- Pre/post cardiac cath and intervention experience required
- Chronic and acute renal failure management required
- IV therapy proficiency, including arterial lines, blood products, central/PICC line care, and starting IVs
- Strong skills in sedation, titrating cardiac drips and vasoactive drips, and use of emergency medications
- Critical care respiratory skills including managing ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and advanced suctioning
- CVA/acute stroke management experience required
- Infection prevention, PPE, isolation, and participation in Code Blue/rapid response
