Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 32-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illnesses such as flu, pneumonia, COVID, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care
- RN to patient ratio is 1:5
- Uses Epic EMR and telemetry monitoring equipment
- Night shift schedule (1900-0700) with every other weekend required
- Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
- Floating required within Region 3 facilities including Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH); floating may occur mid-shift with travel paid
- No on-call requirements
- Responsibilities include cardiac rhythm monitoring, wound care, performing PIV starts, and managing central lines, drains, and tubes
- Support staff includes CNAs for ADLs, mobility, and feeding, as well as phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and telemetry techs available 24/7
- Virtual RNs assist with admissions, discharges, and special monitoring via virtual nursing cameras
- Departmental orientation provided, including New Employee Orientation and two days of unit-specific training
- Navy scrubs required

- Unit culture is collaborative, patient-centered, and supportive
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; missed contracted hours require extending contract duration
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience needed
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone
- Experience with wound care, drain and tube management, PIV starts, and central line management required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit for eligibility
- First-time travelers will be considered
